This very classical Buddhist piece of sculpture show the Enlightened seated on a high pedestal and a large lotus. He is touching the earth with the top of His fingers in a mudra called Bhumiparsha mudra, where, when attacked by Mara, he takes the mother earth as a witness of his will not to be fooled by illusion. Cast during the Ayutthaya period, this piece shows all characteristics of its style including the narrow band between the hair and the forehead.
