The splendid decorations around the arms, and the black bitumen suggest that we are in the presence of a religious ritual and mystery. The figure is seated, in a meditative position, bearing a look of intense concentration. The almond shaped eyes, and smiling mouth suggest that this figure is in the midst of chanting. The headdress and heavy jewelry seen on the ears, shoulders, and wrists makes this figure seen especially pious. This is a delicately crafted work of art, which portrays a worshipper captured at the moment of prayer.
