This vessel portrays a stylized figure of a deity (possibly a monkey) whose face speaks of great importance and intensity. With elongated limbs and hand, sitting bent forward on a winged throne and surrounded by incomprehensible motifs which might signify fire, light or possibly feathers. The same incomprehensible motif appears on the central figure’s helmet or crown. The illustration is exquisitely executed in the finest hand detail and the images are somewhat reminiscent of Ptolemaic symbols.
The figurative illustrations are surrounded by brown crosses. The top of the vessel is decorated with two sets of simple lines of varying thickness around its circumference and a row of identical free-hand glyph-like symbols in between the sets of the lines.
This piece is replete with symbolism and implies a story of great importance in its depiction.
