                                                    Though the body is indistinct, the prominent horns on this small votive sculpture identify it as a bull. Since earliest antiquity, the sacrifice of a bull had been a gift to please the gods, an animal both majestic and strong, worthy of divine royalty. What wish--humble or grand--caused it to be given long ago?
