Adamawa is a province of western Nigeria that shares a border with Cameroon and is inhabited by a variety of distinctive cultures, to the best of current knowledge; the Mumuye and the Jukun are the creators of these terracottas, although the Chamba, Fali and Vere may also have a role. The sculptures are not archeological but were used in sanctuaries. The objects take on a variety of zoomorphic and anthropomorphic themes and forms, and show considerable technical mastery in their execution.
