The Kaka are a small ethnic group belonging to the Tigong, who are also counted among the Mbem, Mbaw and Mfumte. The Kaka live south of the river Donga in the Cameroon grasslands, neighboring on the Mambila, who, however, live in Nigeria. Similar to the Mambila, the Kaka often produce large figural vessels with arms modelled onto them, like the example shown here. The Kaka or Mambila vessel shown here features a dark black, rough patina, modelled arms holding a mask over its face. The mask features round eyes and an open mouth which are accented by a deep red-orange color.
