For thousands of years, glass has been prized for its bright jewel like colors and for the myriad shapes into which it can be transformed. Ancient artisans perfected the technique called Millefiori, literally “A thousand flowers”, which fused colored glass into patterns of abstract brilliance. This delightful fragment, sea blue shot through with rose, was originally part of a bangle bracelet. We can imagine it in late antiquity adorning the wrist of a beautiful woman. Now, set in a ring of radiant gold, it is destined to be worn by another fabled beauty.
