Juglet, mould-blown green glass; it has the shape of a down-turned pear, with a collar on its upper part, a somewhat tall opening neck with an angular handle. Egypt or Eastern Mediterranean, most likely Roman, 2nd – 4th century.
Ht. 8cm; Top diam. 1.7cm.
Comparative material: there are a few similar Roman examples published by Israeli, but they are without handles, cf. Israeli, nos.104-108, p.116-117. A similarly shaped, decorated later period juglet is in the Nasser D. Khalili collection, cf. Goldstein, no.67, pp.72-73, attributed to Syria and dated to the 7th – 10th century.
