A small, ceremonial mace head. These items come in zoomorphic and geometric forms, as in the current case. It has taken the form of a heavy base with a socketed centre, and a chisel-shaped eminence on the other side. The surface is very smooth, achieved by polishing with abrasives over a long period of time. It is unlikely to have been used in battle and probably served a ritual, sceptre-like purpose in the hands of a member of the ruling elite.
