The Sassanids were the last native Persian Kingdom to rule Ancient Iran before the Islamic conquest. The Sassanid era was a golden age of Persian culture that witnessed the revival of Zoroastrianism, and a literary Renaissance spurred by the translation of many Old Persian epics written in cuneiform into the Middle Persian language of Pahlavi written in an alphabet derived from Aramaic.
Artistically, the Sassanid period witnessed some of the highest achievements of the Persian civilization. Much of what later became known as Muslim culture.

This bowl is made from thick bronze, its surface is entirely smooth. It could have been produced for court members to be used as wine drinking vessel.

Sassanian metalwork was highly developed, the most usual objects being shallow cups and bronze ewers.
