This beautiful vessel with its flawless curves, demonstrates to the viewer, the artistry and talent that was required to create such an admirable work of art. The red earthenware is covered by a cream slip that is burnished with red, orange and black paint. The lip of the vessel, emulates the foot by flaring delicately outwards. As the artist decorated it, he created a stylized band work that incorporates a reptile of some fashion. The body, limbs and tail suggest a young frog, while the face seems more relative to a snake or crocodile. Smooth to the touch, this gourd-shaped vessel is a masterpiece of ancient antiquity, which deserves to be respected and treasured by those who have the privilege to see such apiece. Its craftsmanship transcends time, making it a vessel of timeless beauty.
