A paradigm of the Sino-Tibetan tradition of Buddhist metalwork, this mould would have been used to produce Buddha images. The clay Buddhas themselves were small, making it possible for one to keep the image on his person and carry it wherever he went. Ultimately, these actions were meant to bring the individuals closer to Buddha and his world.

Situated at the crossroads of present-day India, Nepal and China, the Tibetan mould incorporates elements from the different cultures while retaining a distinct Tibetan style. Conceived by Tibetan metal casters – among the finest in the world – this work embodies the style of the metalwork that is most sought-after on the market today.
